Who pays for DNA testing depends on how it's done: Family Support Division: If the Family Support Division (FSD) pays for the testing, the alleged father may be required to pay back the cost if he's found to be the father. Court: If the court orders the testing, it will decide who pays for it. Voluntary: If the mother and alleged father agree to pay for the testing themselves, they'll need to decide how to split the cost.
Samples are usually cells from the inside of the mouth, but for court-ordered paternity tests, a blood sample may be required.
Paternity test results are usually available within 3–4 business days, while other tests may take up to 10 business days.
Results are usually emailed and read to the parties involved by phone. The results are also sent to each party's email or home address.
To get free genetic testing through the FSD, you can open a case with them. You can find more information and phone numbers for your nearest FSD office at www.dss.mo.gov/cse
